The Kardashian and Jenner family will continue living life on TV for the next three years, as a new deal has been signed.
The E! Entertainment network said Tuesday it had reached a deal with its most bankable franchise to make three more seasons of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” TMZ reports the family will be paid over $40 million for the 3 seasons, making the deal the richest contract in reality TV history. The show is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions.
Sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe, as well as parents Kris and Bruce Jenner, will earn equal pay – and the majority of the money. According to TMZ.com, siblings Kendall, Kylie and Rob will also be paid equally, though at a lesser rate. Scott Disick and son Mason will be paid at a separate rate, as will Khloe‘s husband Lamar Odom. According to the site, this mega deal only applies to shows that currently exist, so any other spin-offs will warrant a separate rate.
E! said the entire family is covered by the deal. E! will continue to have the first crack at any spinoff projects.
E! has turned the Kardashians into a mini-empire, with spinoff series like “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” and “Khloe and Lamar.” Although E! retains the first right to these spinoffs, Tuesday’s deal does not specify how many more will be made.
The sixth season of the show averaged 3 million viewers on Sunday nights, the cable networks’ top series. Five of the 10 most-watched shows in the network’s history, in fact, involved the Kardashians.
The network would also not say whether musician Kanye West would be included in the series. Kanye and Kim have been seen together lately amid reports that they are a new couple.
It is believed that the sisters will be creating separate shows in the U.K. this summer. A source said: ‘The family really feel that they’ve conquered reality TV in the U.S. with a number of different shows and spin offs, so the UK is the next country they want to break. The Kardashians love England and think they could get up to a lot of fun – and trouble – with a summer in London. It would make great TV as well as boosting their profile internationally.
Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner, 16, and sister Kylie, 14, have been appointed West Coast fashion contributors to Seventeen magazine. “Kendall & Kylie’s Fashion Journal” will debut in the June/July issue and will feature fashion and beauty tips.
Don’t miss the season-seven premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians on May 20 at 9 p.m., only on E!
