Refreshing tequila cocktail recipes for summer
Studies done at The University of Guadalajara have determined that tequila has therapeutic properties. As with a good glass of Vino, tequila increases good cholesterol while reducing the bad and acts as a relaxant before going to bed. It also increases cardiac functions, i.e. stimulates your metabolism to aid in digestion. This is not to say a high tequila diet will help you lose weight…well, it will but not in a good way.
1 1/2 oz. Tres Sietes Silver
¾ oz. fresh sweet and sour mix
¼ oz. agave nectar
Cucumber slices, muddled
Shake and pour over ice. Garnish with cucumber slice.
Modern Muddled Margarita
2 orange wedges
2 lemon wedges
2 large lime wedges
1 oz. agave nectar
1.5 oz. Corzo Silver
1 oz. Cointreau
Crush ingredients with a strong muddler.
Add a scoop of ice, cover and give it a good shake.
Pour into a martini glass and garnish with an orange wedge.
1 1/2 oz. Tres Sietes Reposado
Pineapple cubes, muddled
1/2 oz. pineapple juice
Shake and pour over ice. Top with iced tea. Garnish with two pineapple cubes and a cherry.
Blood Orange Margarita
1-1/2 ounces of Sauza Blue Agave Silver Tequila
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
splash of simple syrup
splash of fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce of organic blood orange puree
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into glass, top with crushed ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Makes 1 serving
1-1/2 ounces Dos Lunas Silver tequila
1/2 ounce agave nectar
3 ounces fresh squeezed orange juice
splash of club soda
fresh mint leaves
Place mint leaves in the bottom of a glass. Add crushed ice, tequila, agave nectar and orange juice and muddle. Top with club soda and garnish with mint leaves and orange slices.
