F1 Heiress Petra Ecclestone Drives Chelsea Neighbors Mad

Petra Ecclestone, the daughter of the Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, angers her Chelsea neighbors as she renovates her $88million property.

Petra, 23, was forced to drop plans to demolish a 200-year-old lodge after outraged neighbors accused her of being responsible for “Botox” architecture. Petra has upset the Chelsea community with her renovations.

“The noise is a nightmare at eight every morning, on the dot, and Saturday mornings as well,” the Telegraph quoted Isla Baring, the daughter of the Australian impresario Sir Frank Tait as saying.
“They are drilling down three or four blocks. They will probably hit the Thames,” she said.

She said the previous owner of the Grade II mansion near Sloane Square, the JCB boss Sir Anthony Bamford, had invited neighbors to see his plans for the property when he wanted to renovate it, but she heard nothing from Ecclestone.

Sir Anthony and his wife Carole bought the mansion from Lebanese businessman Ely Calil in 2006.

Neighbors say the work on the property, which the socialite bought for $88million in 2010, has involved “Channel Tunnel-size diggers”.

Prudence Horn says: “I live bang opposite, so we get woken up every morning. My husband and I live here because it’s peaceful. We were told nothing and, suddenly, it just goes through. It’s unbelievable what is being allowed without any notification to nearby residents. Everybody is up in arms.

“She’s not an ideal neighbour at the moment. It’s disgraceful,” she said.
“It’s like living on a building site. Thank goodness it’s not summer, because one just wouldn’t be able to sit in the garden at all,” her husband Simon said.

Petra‘s mansion includes a lodge next door, away from the road and boasts six reception rooms and ten bathrooms. The house was close to the London home of Kate Middleton (before she married in 2011), was listed by Beauchamp Estates in Mayfair.

The already gorgeous propery posesses a huge frontage and with planning permission for an underground swimming pool and gym already granted prior to it’s purchase in 2010, it is said to be the most valuable property in Chelsea.
