Former Real Housewives of New York City Kelly Bensimon Sells Hamptons Home

The 5,800-square-foot, five-bedroom, 5½-bath home has been featured a handful of times on the Bravo reality TV show.

The sprawling 5,800-square-foot East Hamptons mansion sits on 1.5 acres. The home has a pond and a gunite pool. A block from the beach, the house looks toward the Atlantic Ocean. Inside, there are three fireplaces, dark hardwood floors, an artist’s-studio-type elevated den, and vaulted wood-beamed kitchen with stainless steel accents. Slanted roofs give the large home a cozy feel.

The five-bedroom shingled-roof beach colonial has a sun-filled formal living room with fireplace and French doors, a luxurious master suite with fireplace and private terrace leading to a bonus office or guest space, and a sleek stainless steel kitchen, which opens up to a spacious family room with fireplace and dining area.

The property is located on Further Lane in East Hampton, which is considered one of the most exclusive streets in the area and is home to several celebrities.

The brunette beauty was a model with a degree in English Literature and Writing from Columbia University before becoming French fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon third wife. The couple divorced in July 2007.

Bensimon recently told Newsday, “I can’t afford the lifestyle I did when I was married.”

Both brokers for the buyer and seller are from Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Enzo Morabito, who leads the top broker team in the Hamptons year after year, represented Bensimon on the transaction. He’s worked with her for more than two years.

Kelly is the kind of person who makes you feel like you’re the most important person in the world,” says Morabito. “She wasn’t sure she really wanted to sell the house, so we put it on (sale) for an absurd amount of money. We rented it for great prices two summers in a row. She just felt now was the right time to sell. She bought the house in the ‘80s. It’s time to move on.”

“The tax issue is really affecting the market out here right now,” a long-time Hamptons real estate broker. “If you have an asset to sell, now is the time to sell it. If you wait till next year, you may pay a lot more in taxes. You’re going to see a lot of closings from now until December.”

“I love the Hamptons. I’ve been there since I was a young girl. But the house is really big,” says Bensimon. “I have two teenage girls who want to be in the city and have sleepovers.”

“I want to lower the maintenance of my life.”
