The Palm Beach socialite, designer and philanthropist, now has a one-of-a-kind fashion accessory available for purchase.
This Lilly Pulitzer original located at 710 South County Road on Palm Beach Island, AKA “the Jungle” for its lush and bountiful foliage is back on the market. This 9,000 sqft. mansion sits on 1.4 acres of land, and can be yours, for a mere $8.5 million.
There’s pink on the ceiling, the pale green walled family room, a ballroom sized yellow living room and a turquoise front door with a bold “L” leading to a terra-cotta red foyer. There are a wealth of flowered fabrics on everything, including two kitchen refrigerators. The décor is far more sophisticated than the cheerful prints she made famous, very befitting of the designer and the decorator.

Most Palm Beach inhabitants wouldn’t dare trim their mansion’s like Lilly. The life of color, patterns, thrift shop trinkets, antiques with pedigrees as rarefied as Lillian Lee McKim Pulitzer Rousseau, are nearly busting at it’s seams.
Years before Lilly and 2nd husband Enrique Rousseau acquired the lot on South County Road in 1980, it had been the garden of the 1920s oceanfront estate to the east and still contains the mansion’s old slat house, formerly used as a plant hospital, and a gardener’s house that Lilly calls “Lady Chatterley’s Lover’s cottage.” She worked on the design for a year with Hobe Sound architect Kemp Caler, trying to save every tree possible.
The house is located in the estate section of Palm Beach. While you’re only buying one home, you will get three houses. The main house, with four bedrooms; the “casita” offers two additional bedrooms plus a living room and a kitchen. The pool house features two additional bedrooms, three baths, and a sauna. The slat house and grill celebrates the epitome of “barefoot elegance” entertaining.
“We were very Cuba,” Lilly wrote in her book of herself and her late husband, Enrique, “a Cuban émigré so aristocratic he reportedly took a tent, cigars and a houseboy to the Bay of Pigs invasion,” wrote The Palm Beach Post.)
The property can also be subdivided into two lots, according to the MLS listing. “It’s the largest (non-waterfront) Estate Section lot,” the broker told The Palm Beach Post. “We’re marketing it at land value. When it goes, there won’t be another interior lot of this size” on the island.
Lilly wrote two books about her barefoot chic Palm Beach life. Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Entertaining and Essentially Lilly Holidays, both with the late Jay Mulvaney, offer recipes, decorating tips and plenty of photos taken during parties at her house.
Liza Pulitzer is the listing’s lead broker, with her brother, Peter McKim Pulitzer will be assisting. The property’s exclusive listing agents have an in-depth knowledge of the estate—they are, Lilly’s children.
