7th Annual National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Pink Tie Party

This cherry infused annual fundraiser allows most of the Festival’s events to be gratis for the public.

One of DC‘s “must attend” events is the Pink Tie Party that was held at The Renaissance Hotel Downtown Hotel on March 20, 2013. The fundraiser kicks off the “season of the blossoms.”

More than 30 restaurants and chefs throughout DC served up cherry blossom and spring inspired cuisine and cocktails for the pink themed fête.

The guest of honor this year was Miami Chef Lorena Garcia. She has been a judge on NBC’s “America’s Next Great Restaurant,” a guest chef on the season finale of Bravo’s “Top Chef All-Stars,” and has competed on season four of Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters.”

DC Socialites decked out in pink ties and other pink attire, celebrated the 101st anniversary of the gift of cherry blossom trees from Tokyo to Washington, DC.

In 1912, Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo gifted 3,000 cherry trees to Washington, DC. 101 years later (with 100 of the original trees left), the Cherry Blossom Festival is the largest Japanese cultural festival in the country.

Presenting sponsor Escada launched its newest perfume, “Cherry in the Air” fragrance, at the party with a dedicated fragrance bar.
