The Howard Theatre to Benefit GW Mammovan.

DC NEWSbabes Bash for Breast Cancer began in 2009 when a group of  good friends in the TV news industry decided to get together for one cause. The pink cocktail draws an amazing crowd of breast cancer survivors, advocates, politicos and media power players.

This year’s guest of honor and special speaker is Andrea Mitchell. The NEWSbabes Bash for Breast Cancer host committee includes well-known newswomen from the Washington-region’s top media affiliates.

The “Newsmen in Pink” will be outfitted in pink shirts and ties generously donated by Alton Lane, makers of premium bespoke clothing for men.

The affair will stage at The Howard Theatre, the historic entertainment venue that opened this spring after a 32-year hiatus and a $29 million renovation. In addition to specialty cocktails and a curated menu designed by The Howard Theatre’s consulting chef, Marcus Samuelsson, a desserts bar, generously donated by Georgetown Cupcakes, Dolci Gelati, and Sweet Signatures, will round out the evening’s fare. DJ Flounder of DC 101 will provide musical entertainment for the evening.

About the GW Mammovan
The Mammovan, the Mobile Mammography Program of the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, began in 1996 with a singular, ambitious goal: to make life-saving, early detection of breast cancer possible for all women throughout metropolitan Washington, regardless of their ability to pay.
