We sipped, noshed and ended the night in a Soul Train Line!
Event planner extraordinaire, Andre Wells out did himself once again with the EAW 4th Annual Costume Party last Saturday. The huge ballroom at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium is usually used for city’s largest galas and high profile weddings which made it the perfect venue for the over-the-top evening.
The host spared no expense on the revelers. The très posh affair was flanked with food stations that consisted of filet mignon, scallops, lobster et cetera… from Design Cuisine, satellite bars, lounge seating and a dance floor that stayed packed all night.
The man of the hour Andre Wells made quite the entrance as James Brown on stage, singing “Get On Up,” accompanied by the band. We were all dazzled by “The GodFather of Soul‘s” dance moves.
Anticipation builds all year from those lucky enough to be invited and they take their costumes seriously. Some of this year’s guests included Camelia Mazard as Crazy Eyes, Roger Richmond and April Byrd came as Jay-Z and Beyoncé, at least three Kimyes, Malecficent, Ebola, Ironman, and array of condiments such as Sriracha and Soy Sauce, and even a breathalyzer test showed up in preparation for the annual costume contest. This year winners included Karl Lagerfeld, Grace Jones, The Cast of Clueless and the most amazing midevil witch you ever saw.
Each year Mr. Wells surprises the invite only crowd of 300+ with something special. One year there was a marching band, another the Wizard Cheerleaders. This year it was an intense DJ battle between popular DJs DJ Bobby Drake (Winner), DJ Tye, DJ Q, and our friend DJ Neekola and the guests totally got into it. It was all and all an amazing night.
We’ll see you there next year!
