Touching Heart – to inspire kids to have a giving heart
Why is this cause so dear to you:
Touching Heart is dear to me because it was founded in honor of my grandmother, who felt an immediate calling to take in children wandering the streets after the Korean War. She started an orphanage that quickly housed more than 100 children. She established four schools to educate the orphans, in keeping with her belief that every child deserved a limitless future.
My grandmother was a huge influence in my life. She taught me that an act of kindness can truly make a difference in the life of a child in need. She always said that when children see good, they do good. This is the fundamental mission of Touching Heart: to inspire kids to experience the joy of giving so that they can grow up to be compassionate leaders who can ultimately change the world.
My oldest daughter encouraged me to commemorate my grandmother’s legacy of compassion. Touching Heart grew by creating opportunities for kids to experience charity at a young age. These early life lessons will continue to stir their hearts and nurture the spirit of giving in them.
Our programs are designed to inspire children and teach them about the less fortunate people in the world. Children also learn how we can come together to help those in need while reflecting on the blessings in our own lives. It brings joy to my heart when kids have a newfound appreciation for the little things, such as clean water, because they then appreciate the gifts that we have and understand how important it is to share with others.
An investment of compassion yields an immeasurable return, and, yes, it is possible to make a difference by touching one heart at a time. We should not underestimate the power of kindness, which can turn a life and, ultimately, a world around.
Next noteworthy fundraiser:
Our biggest fundraiser is our annual “Joy of Giving” Golf Tournament, which will be held next year in April . We’re looking for people to join the golf committee, a fun group of kind people who come together to plan a sold-out event to raise money for our programs and help orphanages become self-sustaining with bio-gas plants, chicken farms, and solar panel projects.
What can others do to help:
Fifth-grade Girl Scouts are holding a dental hygiene drive, and another group is collecting bras for an orphanage in Mozambique. One of our dear friends is going to deliver items collected by the end of September to the orphanage. If you are interested in donating to these drives, please contact us at Helen.firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re always looking for people with website design skills and people who can provide marketing and administrative help with the organization.
In addition, we are seeking professionals to coach our children plan fundraising events.
