Developed by East Coast native, culinary school graduate and sommelier – Mary McAule’s creation is the perfect complement to your next succulent lobster.
I love summers in Washington, D.C. Not only is my birthday smack dab in the middle of it but I also enjoy the memories we make when good friends get together after a hard day’s work. We kick back with a glass of chilled wine and relax until the sun sets over Washington Harbour. I consider myself more of a wine snob than a beer drinker.
My favorite is definitely Chardonnay. Ripe Life Wines has a deelish one called the ‘Clambake.’ The nose displays citrus aromas with nuances of nectarine, seasoned spicy oak and minerality. I found Clambake to be well balanced and crisp. I paired it along with a yummy lobster & butter cream pasta which enhanced the hints of vanilla in the wine.
Next time I’ll jazz it up a bit and create a “Peach Twist Sangria”. That will surely be a hit at our next girl’s night out!
Peach Twist Sangria
- 1 Bottle of Clambake Chardonnay
- 1/2 cup Peach Schnapps
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar (depending on how sweet you prefer your Sangria)
- 2 sliced peaches (frozen peach slices work well)
- 1 sliced orange
- 1/2 mango peeled and sliced
- 1/2 liter of ginger ale
